This past year, the Annual OCD Conference, hosted by the International OCD Foundation, was held in Austin, TX. And the 27th Conference will be July 31 – August 2, 2020, in Seattle, WA!
Also, the 28th Annual OCD Conference will be July 9 – July 11, 2021, at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square –New York, NY!
One of the best things about these conferences is that anyone can attend!: people who have OCD, family members of those with OCD, and obviously, providers too.
I have attended one, when it was in Washington, DC. It was attended mostly by people who simply had OCD, and treatment providers were the minority. It was quite an experience! This conference was a number of “firsts” for me. It was the first time I have been around so many other people with OCD!
This disorder is a secretive and isolating condition, causing most of us to believe things like “no one else could be experiencing the kinds of thoughts going through my head.” But that is not the case, and to be around nearly 2,000 people with OCD was very positive! It was three days of educational presentations, support groups, and other activities on all topics related to OCD.
I highly encourage anyone with OCD to attend the conference at least once, it is a great feeling to be with so many other people who share your same experience.
Thanks for reading, and live happy!
